Understated, timeless (see what I did there?) watch alert: the Timex Weekender. Available in a few different face and band color combos, it’s got that military vibe yet not too austere nor pre-distressed. We’ve got one here at M.L.G. headquarters and can vouch for it. via GQ.
Braun, the iconic consumer electronics company, is rereleasing classic watches and clocks that Dieter Rams helped popularize. These were formerly hard to find items, and we’re fairly sure the new releases will be too. via Selectism.
It seems Timex is noticing people like us pursuing the vintage military-looking watch. They’re producing new watches in this style (and other historical-era inspired styles) and calling them the Originals Series. Quite nice, but our extensive research can’t seem to turn up any online e-commerce digital purchasizing options. I guess you just have to call someone at Timex and ask, or wait until they hit the internets. via Hypebeast.
Good lord, with a name like the Prometheus Recon 5 watch, you’d better be bad ass. Sure enough, this is (except for the bizarre bathroom-knob dial). Swiss-made and under $600 USD. We would swap out that band for a steel one, or canvas in the summer, otherwise it’s good to go.

Swiss watchmaker Benrus and people who go by ‘Uniform Experiment’ are making this military watch. It looks like a nicer version of the Timex Camper. $180, out soon. via HB.
In the scope of the blogosphere this is ancient news (end of last week), but Timex is releasing an oversized camper watch sometime this July. One of our M.L.G. staffers wears the regular-sized camper, and it is indeed a little undersized compared to today’s men’s watches. We’re looking forward to checking this one out (at $50!), but our only concern is the in-your-face roundness of it all will feel a little toddler-safe.
Japan’s been on a roll lately forever, so we’re not surprised to see this beautiful minimal military-inspired watch emerge as a result of N. Hoolywood (sic) and Hamilton. You can get one at the Ripe Ark site. via Hypebeast.
If your little gentleman had a Christmas list, this watch from Bremont would be on the top of it. It claims to be celebrating the resuming of the production of Norton, the classic British motorcycle brand. via Selectism.
Selectism’s got a nice feature on Tsovet watches. Some photos and interesting text. Distract yourself after vacation!
